The Chop Stick is the top selling softboard in the Softlite range and is the perfect addition (or starting point) to your quiver. This board will help you surf more often, catch more waves and have a lot of fun!
For Beginner Surfers
The Chop Stick is the ultimate first surfboard, utilising a Mini Mal template ensuring it's easy to paddle, so you'll catch plenty of waves. It's extremely stable once you're up and riding, helping you to develop your surfing style quickly.
But no one wants to a beginner forever, right? So the Chop Stick has been designed with progression in mind. It's not too thick and bulky, so once you start to improve it will allow you to move on to doing more advanced turns and manoeuvrers.
We would recommend this 7'6" size for beginner riders weighing 65-75kg, although if you are an experienced surfer of any weight, you'd be able to use this to get your wave count up on the smaller days. Having one of these in your quiver is a surefire way to ensure there is no waves too small or too crowded, so you'll be surfing more than ever!
For Experienced Riders
Well, we can't create waves, but we reckon the Chop Stick will do a pretty good job of getting you in the water when you normally might turn around and head home (and its always worth it, right?!)
The extra paddle power will greatly increase your wave count once you're out there too but that may lose you some friends in the line-up!
On top of that, the Chop Stick was designed with more refined rails and not too thick like a lot of other beginner softboards out there, so you can still rip them through a few turns if the opportunity arises!

- 100% Waterproof Moulded EPS Core -This core provide unhindered strength and enhanced durability while retaining light weigh characteristics. Softlite Boards are created from exclusively owned moulds. These have been created and refined through a collaboration of renowned surfboard shapers and team riders. - Bamboo X Epoxy Stringer System - Each Chop Stick Board Contains 2 x Stringers except for the 9ft (3 x stringers). Each Bamboo Stringer is re-enforced with Fibreglass Taping & Epoxy Resin to provide maximum strength.
- Exoskeletal Strength Membrane (ESM) - The ESM is a unique layer fused between the EPS Core and PE Deck skin. It increases durability and impact absorption, while also providing a high strength lamination between these two materials.
- Tail Buffers - An extra layer of PE for increased impact absorption in heavy use areas.
- Bones & Shanks Fin System - This fin system allows quick and easy fin installation and removal. It is compatible with other fin types so you can change fins to suit conditions or alter board performance. It also allows a deck with no visible fin screws.

Sizing Tips - It's best to use a little discretion here. Kids, who are often a bit more agile, or people with a bit of previous ocean experience are generally best suited to the higher end of the recommended weight scale. Adults or absolute beginners are probably best suited toward the lower end of the weight scale.
For 7-10 years old kids learners, we usually recommend the 6'6 Chop Stick.
For adult beginners, the height of the rider should also be taken into consideration, if over 6'2 tall, we would recommend an 8ft Chop Stick for example.
