The technology behind the Freedom8 has been developed and refined over more than two decades and independently evaluated by leading shark researchers and universities. Testing across multiple shark species has demonstrated a measurable reduction in close-range interactions and bite probability when the technology is active.

Using electronic deterrent technology, the Freedom8 generates a powerful electrical pulse field through its trailing antenna. When a shark approaches the active field, it produces an aversive response designed to encourage the shark to turn away before making contact.
